The 'dead' of winter is upon us now !

Hello,
A couple of days ago we received an inch of snow, missing heavy snowfall our easterly neighbors did get. Last night we received another inch of snow and more is to come later today. For the next two months we usually get the bulk of our snow here in S.E PA. Then, finally, spring at least gives us a taste of what is to come in early March. So, here is a teaser of what to expect next season in butterflies. Here is a Wild Indigo Duskywing, a late spring arriver. Picture was taken on July 4, 2008. Best to you, Denis

A NEW YEAR IS UPON US.

The year 2011 is here and it seems like butterfly 'season' will never arrive. Although sunny, today is in the twenties with a stiff NW breeze. This is surely not butterfly weather but I just had to put in an old image from 2004, taken with a Nikon 990 camera. The 990 is an antique by today’s standards but was a workhorse in that era. Actually this was my first digital camera and I learned a lot from using the 3X only lens. You can get some excellent shots from a small sensor and lens if you are patient and persistent.  Here is an example of a nice butterfly. It’s an American Copper. Spring is right around the proverbial corner. Have a great day! Denis
